AI Training Empowers Elementary School Teachers in Leyte
Ormoc, Leyte, Philippines – On August 26, 2024, the Asia Pacific Business & Economic Research Society (APBERS) hosted a groundbreaking event, “Artificial Intelligence Training for Educators: Practical and Ethical Considerations,” at the Sabin Resort Hotel. The seminar was spearheaded by APBERS President, Michael Angelo A. Cortez, and attended by 15 dedicated elementary school teachers from Libongao Elementary School, led by their principal, Lilibeth Collaba
The training focused on the vital role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in modern education, offering educators practical insights into how AI can enhance both teaching and learning. Topics included the importance of AI in education, practical applications, and ethical considerations, ensuring that teachers are equipped to navigate the evolving technological landscape with confidence and responsibility.
Participants engaged in hands-on workshops, where they explored AI-powered tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini Advanced, Co-Pilot, Word Dictation, Grammarly, Quillbot, and the dictation function of smartphones. These tools were recommended as effective aids for classroom instruction and teacher productivity.
The event concluded with teachers feeling empowered to integrate AI into their classrooms, promising to enrich the educational experiences of their students. This initiative marks a significant step forward in the commitment to advancing education in the Philippines through the responsible and innovative use of technology.
